Lectio Divina – Order of Carmelites

St. Andrew Christmas Novena

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Jesus, I trust in you.

Come, Holy Spirit, come!

Jesus, come and get me!

Dear God, if today I lose my hope please remind me that your plans are better than my dreams. Amen.

Lord, come and save us and our culture from secularism, modernism, atheism, materialism, relativism, terrorism, hedonism, and the culture of death.

Lord, give me whatever the most Blessed Virgin Mary asks for me.

I must have a parasite in my heart, O Lord. I do not know where it is nor am I able to free myself of it. But I place myself in your hands. Come O Lord, with your scalpel, or with your fire, or with whatever thing you do wish, to rid me of it. Purify my heart, and dispose of it for complete union with yourself. (Servant of God Archbishop Luis Maria Martinez)

Lord, I leave the past to your mercy, the present to your love, and the future to your providence. Amen.

Beg for us, powerful St. Anthony, the grace of an understanding heart. Then, we shall see the image of God in all those we meet and in every creature. Let our hearts always be fixed on the true source of our joy, Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. Please forgive me. I choose to follow You as my Lord. Please fill me with Your Spirit.

“We are not always masters of the unfolding of our lives, but we can always be masters of the meaning we give them. Our freedom can transform any event in our lives into an expression of love, abandonment, trust, hope, and offering.”
– Fr. Jacques Philippe

Oh Lord our God, unwearied is your love for us.

May wisdom visit me and guide me so that I might know what You desire. Wis:9:10b

For your name’s sake, Lord, save my life;
in your justice save my soul from distress. (Psalm 143)

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.

Most Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit- I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.

Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest, And in our souls take up your rest; Come with your grace and heavenly aid, To fill the hearts which you have made.

Thank you Lord for all the things you have done for me, thank you for all the things you are doing for me, and thank you for all the things you will do for me.

Morning: Holy Spirit, guide our actions today that they will set in motion the uncountable goods that the Lord wills.

Evening: Lord, we entrust all our past actions today to Your mercy and we ask You to forgive the failures, bless the successes, and untangle any knots I may have tied up.

Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart and bless me, my family, my home, my friends, and my enemies, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know You, a heart to seek You, wisdom to find You, conduct pleasing to You, faithful perseverance in waiting for You, and a hope of finally embracing You. Amen.

“This is what the Lord asks of you: only this, to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).

Lord Jesus, let us love you with a sincere heart so we may dwell in your house our whole life long.

Lord, give us the grace to listen to your voice and harden not our hearts. Create in me, O Lord, a new, understanding heart, open to all the possibilities you offer for loving, sharing, and reconciliation.

St. Joseph, intercede for us that we may see others in terms of mercy instead of judgment.

Healing Prayer at Bedtime

O Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, and the intercession of Mary, go back into my memory as I sleep. Every hurt that has ever been done to me – heal that hurt. Every hurt that I have ever caused to another person – heal that hurt. All the relationships that have been damaged in my whole life that I am not aware of – heal those relationships.

But Lord, if there is anything that I need to do – if I need to go to a person because he is still suffering from my hand, bring to my awareness that person.

I choose to forgive, and I ask to be forgiven. Remove whatever bitterness may be in my heart, Lord, and fill the empty spaces with your love. Thank You, Jesus and Mary. Amen.

The Miracle Prayer

Lord Jesus, I come before You, just as I am. I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Your name I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give You my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever. I invite You into my life, Jesus. I accept You as my Lord, God, and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit. Come, Lord Jesus, cover me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I love You, Lord Jesus. I praise You, Jesus. I thank You, Jesus. I shall follow You every day of my life. Amen.

Mary my mother, Queen of Peace, all the Angels and Saints, please help me. Amen.

Watch, O Lord – St. Augustine

Watch, dear Lord, with those who watch or wake or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ, rest Your weary ones, bless Your dying ones, soothe Your suffering ones, pity Your afflicted ones, shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love’s sake. Amen.

Learning Christ

Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life—in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity of those whom I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.

Let me put myself aside to think of the happiness of others, to hide my little pains and heartaches, so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path. Let me so use it that it may mellow me, not harden and embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable; that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not haughty and overbearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence, no one less pure, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow traveler in our journey towards Eternal Life.

As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper from time to time a word of love to Thee. May my life be spent in the supernatural, full of power for good, strong in its purpose of sanctity. Amen.

The Serenity Prayer

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
The courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His Will; So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever and ever in the next. Amen

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying to self that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen

Our Father

Hail Mary

Glory Be

O My Jesus

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
